Again, the ALBC had another great Best Six Tournament. The ALBC would like to thank all of its sponsors, supporters, workers and members that participated in the tournament to make it a great event. A lot of fish were caught and good quality fish were also taken during the tournament. The tournament results with the number of fish caught, size of fish, pictures, etc are listed on the website, basslore.com
We also need to thank Judy Wong who took the time to attend the tournament and helped with the drawings and door prizes. Yamamoto Baits help with having Judy at the tournament and donated baits to the tournament.
The raffle boat drawing winner was Donnie Samson of Zachary, La. and the club boat winner was Pineliner Bass Anglers.
The ALBC Best Six tournament will be moved to the first weekend of May next year. We have also worked on some wording on a couple of rules of the tournament to try and assure some mistakes are not made. The Best Six is a member’s tournament and members should let us know of any suggestion or idea you may have to continue to make this a great or better tournament.
New clubs are joining the ALBC and we look forward to the new clubs participating in the ALBC tournaments and joining in the fun.
The next Ranger raffle boats have been ordered and should arrive by the end of June. We have also ordered the raffle tickets and they should be ready by the middle of June. This is the earliest the tickets and/or the boats have been received and I hope each club takes this opportunity to sell tickets for a longer period of time and make more funds for your clubs.
Remember the Tournament of Champions (TOC) tournament has been moved to September 2009. The State Team tournament is scheduled for March 7 & 8, 2009. It will be held on the Red River and bids are to go to Alexandria, Natchitoches and Shreveport.
The ALBC Youth fishing tournaments are beginning to be held across the state in each district. Check the web site (basslore.com) for dates and location in your districts. Please help the District Directors with putting the events together for a good cause. We need to have our youth back involved with the outdoors.
The ALBC has been involved with supporting and trying to obtain support for the waterway access bills introduced by Senator Joe McPherson. Senate Bill 292 should be discussed on the senate floor the last week of May. There is some doubt there is enough support at this time for the bill to be passed out of the senate. We are asking everyone to contact all the senators we feel that are not in support of the bill to try and explain why it is important to have them support the bill.
Remember to send club news, pictures, etc. to (2designllc@bellsouth.net) so the information can be entered into the magazine. We would all like to hear about your good news.
See you on the water.
Dan
